Foxtel interruptus

Foxtel chose an odd time yesterday to install a software update on viewers’ set-top boxes.
The kids came to tell me the TV had stopped working about 7.15pm WST in the middle of Scooby Doo. That was 9.15pm EST, prime-time viewing.
Programs were off the air for about 20 minutes.
You’d normally expect such an update to be scheduled for the wee hours when few people are watching. It didn’t bother me, but I think it smacks of arrogance and it’s certainly poor customer service not to notify people in advance.
A quick look through the program guide reveals that viewers were disturbed watching such gems as Just Shoot Me, Indian Food Made Easy, Ghost Hunters, Dexter, Law & Order, Inside Rugby and the 1949 comedy flick I Was A Male War Bride.
