Chasing postal votes

The Liberal and National parties are both chasing postal votes in Traralgon for the crucial Gippsland by-election.

Traralgon Post OfficeCandidates Rohan Fitzgerald and Darren Chester respectively issued media statements on Tuesday opposing a possible relocation of postal services.

Fitzgerald modestly says he is “leading the fight to keep the heritage-listed Traralgon Post Office at its present site in Franklin Street”.

Chester states his concerns. “We need a guarantee from Australia Post that the full range of services will continue to be provided from the Franklin St Post Office.”

I’d like to tell you what Labor’s Darren McCubbin thinks, but he doesn’t seem to have a web site.

I thought post office services had moved from the corner of Franklin and Kay Streets several years ago, that the current building was just a retail outlet.

Personally, I think the courthouse was a bigger loss.
