Double talk from Nelson

Campaigning in Gippsland today, Opposition leader Brendan Nelson talked up giving voters a choice between the Coalition parties.
The Nationals hold Gippsland with a 5.9 percent margin. That should make it winnable for Labor, but Kevin Rudd is hosing down aspirations.
Meanwhile, Dr Nelson said it was important that conservative voters had a choice between the Nationals and the Liberals.
It is absolutely essential for the people of Gippsland to think carefully about the person they are going to send to Canberra to represent their interests, their concerns and their aspirations for the people of Gippsland, he said.
Yes, but this commendable philosophy doesn’t sit comfortably with Nelson’s reported support for a merger between the Libs and Nats.
