Frome byelection

Six candidates have lined up for the Frome byelection on Saturday, January 17.
I was living in Port Pirie during 1994 when Rob Kerin won the seat for the Liberals. It was a new seat then, but notionally Labor.
Kerin, who rose to be Liberal leader and Premier, has retired and the seat is up for grabs.
Considering the relatively small 3.4 percent margin, Labor should be in with a real chance.
Like the federal byelection in Gippsland however, I can’t see Labor coming close. They are just on the nose so much in country areas.
The real contest is between the Liberals and independent Geoff Brock, with the Nationals an outside chance if preferences go their way.
Brock is the mayor of Port Pirie and Nationals candidate Neville Wilson is the deputy mayor. Brock and Wilson are exchanging preferences.
Brock is receiving preferences from Labor and the Nationals are running a split ticket after number two; letting voters make their own choice between Liberal and Labor for third position.
My prediction is Brock to win.
