Web wars

There has been a bit said about the use of You Tube videos for political purposes. Frankly I don’t think they are likely to be influential at all. The people who are motivated to watch them will almost certainly have a predetermined opinion.

Web sites however, will be relevant in this campaign, I believe. Swinging voters will visit them for information. Even people who have already formed a position could be swayed if the message is strong enough.

It’s no surprise the Liberal Party has already moved their web site into election mode with advertising material and news announcements up to date following John Howard’s calling of the poll.

Kevin Rudd logo It’s a surprise though that Labor hasn’t emulated this achievement. The most recent “news” on Sunday evening was from Thursday! Even the ubiquitous Kevin07 site hasn’t been updated.

Given the clamor from all quarters for Howard to call the election, today’s announcement can’t have come as a shock, so it’s incredible that Labor hasn’t switched their web site into top gear.

Maybe it’s in their staff award that they don’t work on Sundays!
