Australia’s status downgraded

Australia is a “tier two” nation when it comes to world influence, according to the British Foreign Office.

In a public relations brief leaked to the Financial Times, the Foreign Office sought to target countries like the United States, France, Germany, India and China instead of Australia, Canada and Argentina.

It’s an embarrassing blunder for the British Government that “old friends” like Australia and Canada have been snubbed.

The document properly reflects British priorities, but contains words that should never have been put in writing.

Diplomacy is meant to be more subtle.
