Sheffield Shield washout

Victoria looks like winning the Sheffield Shield thanks to bad weather and a late middle order revival.

The Vics deserve to win, no argument. They have been the best side all season.

It’s a shame the game is being played at the Junction Oval, which has poor drainage. The MCG was unavailable because of the bushfire charity concert.

It highlights the need for Victorian cricket to have a permanent home that isn’t shared with football.

The Lake Oval at South Melbourne would have been perfect, but soccer got in first.

Maybe Windy Hill or Northcote. The Albert Ground is lovely, but too small to host major games.
