A bewildered and amused Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard says a poll naming her as Australia’s second most sexiest woman is “very unusual”.

Model Jennifer Hawkins - a former Miss Universe - topped the poll of a men’s magazine readers.

“I’m not a reader of Ralph magazine, I would like to make that clear,” Ms Gillard said, laughing, on Fairfax Radio Network.

“I’m sure many Australians do read Ralph magazine, but I’m not one of them.

“I think people don’t understand that I am probably two foot shorter than Jennifer Hawkins and double her body weight, so it’s been a very unusual result.

“I would simply agree that Jennifer is a very attractive woman.

Personally I think Gillard would be much more attractive if she spoke without a strine ocker accent. If she had a lilting Welsh voice, for example, that would be very appealing.

Columnist Andrew Bolt believes Gillard got the ranking because power is an aphrodisiac, hence the picture which implies Margaret Thatcher is as sexy as Marilyn Monroe. That’s bollocks, I reckon.

I’m more inclined to Bolt’s other theory that Ralph was chasing publicity.
